"Backing" David
This is AnnaMarie "backing" David. This is how the momma's carry their babies in Ghana and she said that she used to carry Naomi like this "all the time" when Naomi was a baby. That would mean that AnnaMarie was only 7 or 8 when she did this. She said she had to carry her "all the way to church!" The way she said this it sounded like this was a REALLY long way. She also told me that when Naomi was older (walking) that she would have to take Naomi with her and they would have to walk a long way to get water and carry it back (on her head). Yesterday we bought a 30 pound bag of dog food and she carried it to the car for me on her head. I could barely lift it and she just hoisted it up onto her little head under her 70 pound body and walked along like it was nothing. Oh, and by the way, she balances it with no hands. Amazing!
