We are just praying and waiting and trying to prepare as best we can when we don't know when we will be able to go back and bring the kids home. We have been Christmas shopping and buying airline tickets and planning hotels, etc. without dates! Interesting! We just spent $7,000.00 on airline tickets - ouch!
My good friend, Lisa (who is adopting Monica from Beacon House) is in Ghana right now, so I have been able to talk to the girls several times on the phone, which is wonderful. I keep on telling them that we are coming soon and reminding them to pray that the paperwork goes quickly.
Our biggest concern right now is Annamarie's passport. When I was in Ghana, I was looking over all of the paperwork and noticed a mistake on her's. When there is a mistake, they can't just fix it - you have to apply for a whole new passport. This can take from 2 weeks to 2 months! This could be a huge problem, obviously, if it is two months. The kids are really expecting to be home by Christmas - we've prayed and prayed for that! We are expecting to hear any day now that our I-600 is approved. After that, it's only a week to get a Visa and then we can bring them home. There is no applying for a Visa without a passport, of course, so that is what we are waiting for. As always, we know God is in control and we just would ask you to please pray with us that He will work in the system and make miracles happen so that they can be here soon.
Today Naomi walked up to Lisa and said to her, "I want to call and talk to my Dad and my sister Hannah and my sister Hayden!" LOL! She still isn't sure who to call a "he" and who to call a "she." So cute! She called me and I talked to her for a while and she sang me a song, like she always does on the phone. My favorite one that she sings goes like this: "Our God is a miracle God, yes He is, Oh Yes our God is a miracle God! He makes the head, the eyes, the nose, the mouth, the ears, Oh Yes our God is a miracle God!" It is SO SWEET the way she sings it - at the top of her little voice! Annamarie was getting her hair "planted" so we couldn't talk today. Lisa said they have been working on it for two days - adding extensions so that she will have long braids. I can't wait to see it! I'm going to have to learn how to do this soon! Help, Malinda! :) I miss Ghana pineapple - it tastes like candy! Thanks for your prayers!
Cheryl,
ReplyDeleteI am praying that those beautiful children will be home with you SOON. I can't imagine having gone over there, being able to hold them, and then having to say goodbye. As much as I want to wrap my arms around our daughter in Ethiopia, I am so thankful that we get to travel over there to meet her AND to bring her home - all one trip... It isn't coming soon enough though. I am struggling to remember that God has his own perfect timing and our family will be together when that time is right.
You are in my thoughts and prayers!
Christall
It will take awhile for the kids to get he/she correct. Ours still have problems with it.
ReplyDeleteAlso ... I'd love to help you with the extension braids when you get the kids home. I just did 111 extensions in Rachel's hair yesterday.
Praying your kids home for Christmas.
